Damian Lamar Lockhart is a two-time Suzi Bass Award nominee, a 2024 Reiser Artist Lab Fellow, and a multi-hyphenate artist based in Atlanta, GA. Originally from Buena Vista, GA, he became Marion County’s first recipient of the Ledger-Enquirer’s Page One Award for Drama and trained at the historic Springer Opera House, where he received the Springer Legacy Award. He holds a B.A. in Theatre & Performance Studies with a focus on African American Theatre from Kennesaw State University and launched his career as a directing and performance intern at Actor’s Express Theatre Company.
Through a Black, Southern, and queer lens, Damian creates experiences that challenges audiences intellectually and invites emotional transformation. His acting credits include Atlanta, Lodge 49, Stalked Within, The Family Plan, Queer as Folk, and performances in Casablanca, Morocco. As a director, his work spans museum theatre, new play development, sketch comedy, and digital media, collaborating with major Atlanta institutions and beyond.
